Difference between preparation and attempt to an offence under IPC?

Preparation of offence

  1. Before attempt for commission of offence to think over to discuss about the means , it’s modus operandi, it’s collection of materials and articles etc. Comes within the Ambit of preparation of an offence.
  2. The result of preparation is not always are inevitably the commission of an offence.
  3. Leaving certain exceptions preparation does not comes within the ambiguity of punishable offence.
  4. Preparation is second stage of crime.

 

Attempt of offence

  1. After preparation the direction and active steps in the direction of commission of the offence is called attempt to an offence.
  2. Attempt is a certain step in the direction of an offence.
  3. Attempt to an offence is punishable offence.
  4. Attempt is third stage of crime.
