# Difference between extortion and robbery?

Extortion

1. Extortion define under section 383 of IPC.
2. This offence is committed by obtaining wrongful consent of the owner of property.
3. Immediate fear is not the main feature.

Robbery

1.Robbery  Define under section 319 of IPC.

2. If robbery has been committed by theft then consent of person is possession property is not taken.
3. The main feature is wrongful restraint of fear of instant death or instant hurt. Instant Fear is an essential condition for robbery.
